Working in partnership with Sainsbury’s, we have raised over £13,000 for Myeloma UK.

Myeloma UK receives no government funding, and as such, relies on voluntary donations and fundraising to propel them forward on their journey to find a cure for myeloma.

Organising yearly Golf Days in memory of Mark Almond, we have raised a total of £13,380.10 to date to support Myeloma UK.

The yearly Golf Days supplies the charity with funding which is used to provide emotional support, information and practical advice to myeloma patients and their families, often in the most difficult of times.

David Hobday of Sainsbury’s has thanked H&G Recruitment saying:

‘A huge thanks from all of us for your continued support for this event. I hope you can see what it means to the charity, and in our own little way, we are making a difference.’

Who are Myeloma UK?

Myeloma, also known as multiple myeloma, affects thousands of people across the UK. It is a type of blood cancer that arises from plasma cells, and accounts for 15% of blood cancers.

Mainly affecting those over the age of 65, myeloma develops when DNA is damaged during the development of a plasma cell. These abnormal cells release a large amount of an antibody called paraprotein. A build-up of abnormal plasma cells in the bone marrow and the presence of this paraprotein causes the medical problems related to myeloma.

Myeloma UK is the only organisation in the UK who deal exclusively with myeloma. Their goal is to find a cure for the cancer, while ensuring that myeloma patients get access to the right treatment at the right time. They work to improve standards of treatment and care through research, education and raising awareness of myeloma.

Patients remain at the centre of the research Myeloma UK fund. In the last 10 years, with improvements to treatment and care, survival rates have increased faster than most other cancers.

With no funding from the government, the charity relies entirely on voluntary donations and fundraising.
