Modern-day slavery is complex and still present today.
In our current era, where human rights are championed and freedom is hailed as a fundamental value, a dark shadow persists – modern-day slavery.
Despite movements of the past and the legal frameworks in place, millions of people around the globe still find themselves ensnared in systems of exploitation and bondage. This contemporary form of slavery often hides in plain sight, camouflaged by the complexities of global supply chains, labour exploitation, and human trafficking.
Modern slavery wears many faces, from forced labour in sweatshops and factories to sex trafficking in brothels and on the streets. It thrives in industries such as agriculture, construction, manufacturing, domestic work and logistics.
Victims of modern slavery endure physical, psychological, and emotional abuse, stripped of their autonomy and dignity.
We are all responsible to not turn a blind eye of those trapped in modern-day slavery. Every person deserves to live a life of dignity and freedom, free from exploitation and oppression. By shining a light on this dark reality, we pave the way for collective action and systemic change.
At HG Recruitment Solutions we’re committed to developing and adopting a proactive approach to prevent, respond to, and remediate the risks of modern slavery.
We’ve implemented systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery is not taking place anywhere within the organisation or, as far as able to do so, in any of the supply chain.
HG have controls in place and all employees have a responsibility and are trained to prevent and address modern slavery risks through providing awareness during onboarding and ethical procurement training.
Recruitment is managed via the Responsible Recruitment and Ethical Trade Policies and all employee and worker personnel records include the following:
- possession of their own right to work documentation
- Ownership of their own personal bank account
- No duplication of addresses unless a prior relationship is known
- No duplication of contact numbers
Our employees and workers receive training during onboarding on how to identify modern slavery and labour exploitation and what to do if modern slavery is suspected at any point in the Company’s supply chain. Posters are placed around the workplace to encourage awareness and provide details of where to report suspected modern slavery.
Subcontractors and suppliers are asked to commit to the Company policy and provide evidence of their actions in supporting the prevention of modern slavery.
Together, we can build a future where the shackles of modern slavery are nothing but a distant memory, and every human being is afforded the rights and respect they deserve.
