The holiday season is a time for giving and spreading kindness. With Christmas just around the corner, we’re kickstarting this period of festivity by attending the Willow Foundation’s annual ball and sponsoring their Christmas Carol Concert to raise money for the amazing charity.
Last Christmas, we chose to donate the money we would have spent on our Christmas party to our chosen charity of the year, Willow Foundation. We were able to donate nearly £10,000 to this wonderful charity and this year, we’re thrilled to be sponsoring their annual Christmas carol concert again.
Willow hosted a virtual concert due to the pandemic last year, but this year, they are resuming their face-to-face performances, bringing you the incredible voices of Hertfordshire Chorus live. This years’ concert will be taking place on Tuesday 7th December at St Albans Cathedral, and we’re excited to be attending and sponsoring the event.
As one of the Willow Foundations’ proud sponsors, we will also be attending their Christmas Ball on 26th November. This year, the ball will be held at The Savoy, the capital’s most iconic hotel. It will be a wonderful evening, filled with fine food, wine, and excellent entertainment, all to raise funds for the Willow’s Special Days.
The Willow Foundation
The foundation was founded in 1999 by Bob Wilson, a former Arsenal goalkeeper, and his wife Megs. Over the past 22 years, Willow has been continuously helping thousands of young adults with illnesses such as cancer, motor neurone disease, cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy and Huntington’s disease.
Special Days
The Willow team organise Special Days for young adults and their loved ones. For some, their Special Day is the opportunity to fulfil a dream of theirs, and for others, it’s a chance to return some level of normality to their lives. The key aim for a Special Day is to lift spirits, reunify families and to encourage the young people as well as being a source of strength when needed.
The Special Day experiences are based in the UK and are tailored to an individual’s needs and wishes. The days vary, but the requests range from once-in-a-lifetime experiences to simply quality time for young families. The Willow team aim to provide young adults with the experience of their dreams, so on many occasions, a Special Day often spans across several days and involves overnight stays or a few days away.
How can I show my support?
We appreciate that the holiday period is a busy time for everyone, but if you are interested in supporting this brilliant charity, we’ve listed a few ideas on how you can help below:
- Donating online
- Entering the ‘Willow’ lottery
- Attending the Willow Christmas concert
- Hosting your own fundraiser
At H&G, our goal is to show our support to Willow Foundation this year by raising the funds for at least 10 Special Days. We want to help provide as many Special Days as possible to make even the smallest difference to their lives, and we would appreciate your help with our mission.
