Ledger Clerk/ Credit Controller needed 

Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Sales Ledger Clerk / Credit Controller to join our clients finance team. This role is integral to maintaining accurate sales ledger records, ensuring timely invoice processing, and effectively managing credit control processes. Additionally, you will be responsible for treasury-related tasks, including oversight of their commercial invoice discounting facility.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales Ledger Management:

Process and maintain accurate records of sales invoices, ensuring adherence to accounting standards.

Verify and reconcile customer accounts to ensure accurate and up-to-date financial information.

Collaborate with sales and other departments to resolve any billing discrepancies.

Credit Control:

Implement and maintain effective credit control procedures to minimize overdue payments.

Monitor customer credit limits and terms, taking appropriate actions to mitigate credit risk.

Communicate with customers regarding overdue payments, resolving issues and negotiating payment plans when necessary.

Regularly review and update credit terms based on customer payment history and creditworthiness.

Treasury Responsibilities:

Assist in the management of the company's commercial invoice discounting facility.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely invoicing to optimize discounting facility utilization.

Reconcile discounting facility transactions and maintain strong relationships with financial partners.

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

Generate regular reports on sales ledger and credit control metrics.

Provide insights and analysis on customer payment trends, identifying areas for improvement.

Collaborate with the finance team to contribute to overall financial reporting and analysis efforts.

Customer Service:

Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries related to billing and credit matters.

Build and maintain positive relationships with customers to facilitate effective credit control.


Previous experience in a Sales Ledger Clerk or Credit Controller role, preferably within the logistics or transportation industry.

Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Understanding of treasury management and commercial invoice discounting is advantageous.

Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
